Bitcoin halving countdown
A Bitcoin halving cuts the block subsidy (new BTC paid to miners) in half. It is scheduled every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years, not on a fixed calendar date.
What the countdown shows
- Blocks to go — remaining blocks until the next multiple of 210,000.
- Time estimate — remaining blocks × recent average block time (about 10 minutes when the network is on target).
- Epoch progress — how far we are through the current 210,000-block period.
Fees and hashrate
The same card shows suggested fees (sat/vB) and an estimate of network hashrate. Those describe current network conditions; they are separate from the halving schedule.
Why the date moves
If blocks are found faster or slower than 10 minutes on average, the estimated calendar date shifts. The block height target does not.
